First (Annual?) Poker Run & Pig Roast

The GNWR first ATV Poker run and Pig Roast was well attended.  The gloomy skies in the morning did not stop folks from coming out to enjoy the trails.  Over 100 people attended and a good time was had by all.  Folks praised the great condition of the trails and liked the variety.

Over 175 hands of poker were dealt.  Thanks to Roger Washburn for helping at the card table and determining our winning hands.  Winning hand KKK88, taken by Tim Flynn.

The pig roast was a hit!  Darrin Jock did a fantastic job cooking and everyone enjoyed some roast pig, hamburgers, hotdogs, salads and some tasty desserts.

Many businesses generously donated items for our raffle.  Young and old alike enjoyed choosing which raffle item they wanted to try their luck at.

Special thank you for all the volunteers at the event:  Keith Landry, Jenn Landry, Darrin Jock, Roger Washburn, Kevin Judd, Rita Griffin, Ricky McKeage and Robin Brooks.  And our young volunteers: Spencer Landry, Brennan Landry and Garrett Jock.  Without all of their support, time and effort this event could not have happened.  Thank you!!

Club Meeting

The next club meeting will be 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Pittsburg Ridge Runner Snowmobile Clubhouse on Dickson Lane off Back Lake Road in Pittsburg, NH.  Please plan to attend as more trail improvements and club activities will be discussed and planned for the 2008 season.

PREVIOUS NEWS AND EVENTS

A new professionally prepared trail map is NOW available and you can get one at many of the local Pittsburg businesses for $4.50.  It includes advertisements for many local businesses, trail guidelines, trail junction numbers, picnic areas, etc..

The opening of trails on Saturday, May 26, 2007 was very well attended.  Check out the Opening Day report.

All of you that took part in the trail work party on May 19, 2007 or any of you that have done additional work for the club, please send in your reports.  The club needs the volunteer hours and equipment usage for trail Grant In Aid applications to the State.  You can send them to the club address or via E-mail.

NEW TRAILS?

Great news!  There is a very good possibility that there can be SOME roads in the Connecticut Lakes Head Waters Forest, CLHWF, open to ATVs.  Check out the latest  "Proposed Plan Revision" .  The time for comments has closed.

As soon as there is any ATV news of what has been included in the final plan it will be posted here.

GNWR TRAIL PATROL

The club will have a "TRAIL PATROL" this season to help keep our trails in the best shape possible.  There will be a meeting soon with a representative of the NH BOT to provide information and train anyone that is interested in becoming a trail patrol member.

TRAIL INFORMATION

Most of the club's trail system is located on 8,000 acres of the Perry Stream Land and Timber Co., between Indian Stream and Perry Stream in Pittsburg, NH.  The approximately 100 miles of trails range from graveled roads to tight woods trails with some muddy areas.  A few run beside Perry Stream and Indian Stream providing nice views and opportunities to do a little fishing.

The club is trying to obtain more trails that will connect its existing system to other areas of the "North Country".   Your help would be greatly appreciated.  Please join the GNWR by printing the Membership Application and sending it in with you membership dues.  Please read our "Trail Use Guidelines".

Please be sure to read the Trail Administrators report for May 2006

Our current TRAIL MAP has just been up dated with the latest trails.  Maps can also be obtained at the Arctic Cat/Polaris dealer, the Lopstick Lodge & Cabins office, Mountain View Cabins & Campground office, A Path Less Traveled office, the Powder Horn Lodge & Cabins office and the Ramblewood Cabins & Campground office.

Check out the 2005 pictures on the TRAILS picture page.

The club is in need of volunteers to help with the up keep of the trail system.  Anyone who has time to help bring quality ATV riding to the Pittsburg, NH area is encouraged to contact the club at the above address or the E-mail address.  Your help will be greatly appreciated!
